Sunni Colón – Thierry Disko (EP)

After hitting fans off with a few impressive singles like “Feel4U,” “Way You Talk About Me” and “California Diamond,” soul-funk singer Sunni Colón delivers a “deeply personal” EP entitled Thierry Disko. The 7-track debut EP by the 25-year-old is a contemporary blend of 70’s funk, Frank Ocean inspired grooves plus Stevie Wonder meets the Pink Floyd motivated textures.

“Thierry Disko began while I was living in my car in Los Angeles,” Colón tells i-D. “I began recording the EP with the portable equipment I own in different friends’ living rooms,” before flying out to New York to complete the record with songwriter and producer Dillon Pace. “I had no money for professional mixing but Dillon offered to mix and help me complete everything for free,” says Colón.

Tierra Whack – Child Please

Philly artist Tierra Whack was on a roll last year when she released gem after gem after gem. Then t all just came to a holt. Not sure what the reason was but it appears the rising emcee is back at it as she emerges with a new joint for all the Gemini’s celebrating a birthday. On “Child Please” Tierra uses the influences of Missy Elliott and Rapsody to cleverly spit and serenade us with a half-sung vocals to pleasantly whisk our ears into a frenzy as she spills her emotions for on her a guys she’s been eying.
